JMU Dominates Howard On The Road

Author: Jack Culberson

Coming into this game James Madison was 3-0 and they had been playing amazing averaging 108 points a game. Howard was 2-2, but they lost to some good basketball teams. This game took place at Howard, and JMU destroyed them as the final score was 95-69. Let’s take a closer look at what happened in this game.

James Madison took a 13 point lead heading into half, and they continued to ride this momentum into the second half. JMU’s dominance in rebounds and field goal percentage were the story of this game. James Madison shot an absurd 56% from three on 14-25 shooting. In comparison, Howard shot 26% from three on 5-19 shooting. JMU made 9 more three pointers, really setting them apart from Howard. JMU also had 36 rebounds this game including 13 offensive ones, and Howard had 22 rebounds including 8 offensive ones. Dominance on the glass goes a long way in the game of basketball, and this game was evidence of that.

James Madison guards Vado Morse, Terrence Edwards, and Noah Freidel had great games in this one. Morse had 17 points, 2 steals, and 3 assists. Edwards had 19 points, 2 steals, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Freidel off the bench had 23 points, 2 steals, an assist, and 6 rebounds. These three players were the main contributors to a great JMU win.

Howard guard Elijiah Hawkins had a great game as well as he had 18 points, 2 steals, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds. Although his team did not win, Hawkins tried his best to help them win.

JMU has been really good this season and their team's ability will be tested on November 20th as they play North Carolina. Even if they lose the game against North Carolina, this JMU team is very solid and they have a very legit chance of winning the Sun Belt and playing in the NCAA tournament in March. It will be interesting to see how the rest of their season plans out.

Howard took the loss in this one, but they will be looking to bounce back in their future games. They have a solid squad and they are currently first in the MEAC. It will be interesting to see how the rest of their season plays out as well.
