College Football Preview 2023-2024

By: Jack Culberson

With the fall fastly approaching comes college football with it. Last season was full of electric players, big moments, and great games. With the new season almost here, we are surely expecting amazing things. This season has great story lines and will not disappoint.

Most exciting players:

College football is full of electric players and stars. They make the game so entertaining and are crucial to the sport. One of if not the most exciting player in college football is Caleb Williams. Last year’s Heisman winner returns for his junior season to try and win a National Championship. The NFL’s top projected 2024 pick looks to build on what he did last season. Another quarterback that is one of the best players in college football is North Carolina’s Drake Maye. Drake Maye is projected to be a top pick in next year’s draft. He’s had a very solid career so far at North Carolina and he looks to take an even bigger leap this season. He’s a great player to pay attention to. Brock Bowers is arguably the best tight end in college football. He has had a great career so far at Georgia and is a two time National Champion. He is also projected to be a top pick in the draft next year. His playstyle makes him such an electric player. Marvin Harrison Jr. is a one of a kind receiver that is unbelievable. His skills and frame make him one of the best players in the country. He is projected to be the first receiver taken in the draft next year, and his ability justifies this. Kool-Aid McKinstry might have the coolest name in college football, as well as being one of the best corners. Alabama always produces good defensive backs and Kool-Aid is no exception.

Teams to look out for:

Only so many teams each season truly have the ability to win the Championship. Here are the teams that have the best shot to win it all this year. Georgia: The Bulldogs have won the last two National Championships, and have done so in dominant fashion. Talent is not a question with this team, instead how likely is it for them to three-peat. The Bulldogs also have a new quarterback in Carson Beck, so it will be interesting to see how he plays. Ohio State: The Buckeyes were a field goal away from making the Championship game last season. This team is very talented, and are many people’s favorites to win it all. The Buckeyes are now led by quarterback Kyle McCord, and it will be interesting to see if he can produce. Michigan: The Wolverine’s have made the College Football Playoff the last two seasons, but have failed to make the Championship game either times. This team is experienced and has the talent to win it all. Alabama: Although a lot of people are worried about the Crimson Tide’s offense this year, you can never count out a Nick Saban coached team. Alabama is always very talented and coached well. USC: The Trojan’s have one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and a dynamic offense. This team was very close to making it to the Playoff last year but just fell short.

New to the 2023-2024 season:

With the new season approaching some things have changed in college football. Teams are leaving their conferences and joining new ones. The Big 12 has expanded this season and four new schools have been added to the conference. Houston, UCF, Cincinnati, and BYU will all be playing games in the Big 12 this year. If you think this year is crazy with conference realignment, just wait until next season.
