The FAU Owls head into halftime trailing the undefeated Memphis Tigers 17-16 in a back-and-forth battle. While the Owls’ offense found early success, a costly defensive lapse just before the break allowed Memphis to retake the lead.

Memphis struck first, opening the game with a quick four-play drive capped by an 18-yard rushing touchdown from their quarterback. FAU responded immediately with an impressive 75-yard drive of their own, finishing with a one-yard keeper from quarterback Caden Veltkamp on fourth-and-goal.

The Tigers answered with a field goal before FAU reclaimed momentum. Running back Jayshon Platt punched in a 10-yard touchdown run, though a mishap on the extra point attempt left the Owls with just six points from the drive. After forcing a stop, FAU added a field goal to extend their lead, but Memphis closed the half with a statement. The Tigers marched 75 yards in 10 plays, finishing the drive in the end zone to grab the one-point advantage heading into the locker room.

The Tigers’ rushing attack has been the difference so far, racking up 123 net rushing yards in the first half. If the Owls can find a way to slow down Memphis on the ground, they’ll have a strong chance to pull off the upset in the second half.
