#5 LSU vs #8 Florida State was the most anticipated game of week 1 and it did NOT disappoint. The Tigers and Seminoles have been touted as playoff contenders throughout the off season as LSU has one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in Jayden Daniels and one of the best defenders in the nation in Harold Perkins Jr. On the other side, Florida State probably brought in the best transfer class in the nation headlined by former Michigan State WR Keon Coleman and Former Virginia CB Fentrell Cypress II.

The game started with LSU driving the ball all the way down the field, but the drive ended with a turnover on downs as Jayden Daniels was sacked by DJ Lundy for a loss of 13 yards. FSU quickly capitalized with a 9 play drive that ended with a 40 yard touchdown reception from Keon Coleman. LSU answered by driving down the field and scoring. After two possessions of 3 and outs. Florida State punted to LSU and LSU fumbled the punt. The very next play Jordan Travis threw an interception. LSU scored on a Noah Cain run. FSU scored again on another Keon Coleman touchdown reception. LSU went into the half up 17-14.

First drive of the second half FSU tied it up at 17-17. This was a turning point in the game. Florida State got hot and started streaking. FSU went on a 31-7 run in the second half to run away with this one. Jordan Travis and Keon Coleman led the way for the Noles as their offense was humming and the LSU defense had no answer for it. The Florida State defense also handled business in the backfield wearing down Jayden Daniels.

Florida State walked away with the 45-24 win which was a statement for the Noles as a National Championship contender. Keon Coleman walked away as the breakout performer of the game with 122 yards and 3 touchdowns. LSU has a chance to rebound with a matchup vs Grambling State next week. Florida State has their lone home game of the month vs Southern Miss. Florida State has a lot to look forward to this season.
