This past Saturday, the Florida State Seminoles suffered a heartbreaking loss to the unranked Virginia Cavaliers in a double-overtime thriller. The defeat sent the Seminoles tumbling in the latest AP Poll, dropping them to No. 18.

Despite the setback, Florida State’s season is far from lost. The Seminoles remain 4-1 and will have a chance to make a statement this weekend when the No. 3-ranked Miami Hurricanes come to Tallahassee. A win against their in-state rival would put the Seminoles right back in the thick of the ACC title race.

Individually, several players shined against Virginia. Wide receiver Duce Robinson was nearly unstoppable, hauling in nine catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Tony Castellanos also showcased his dual-threat ability, throwing for 254 yards while adding 78 more on the ground. While turnovers proved costly, both of Castellanos’ interceptions came in difficult situations—one on an outstanding defensive play at the line of scrimmage, and the other on the game’s final play as he tried to give his receiver a chance instead of taking a sack.

Florida State will now look to regroup and prove that one loss doesn’t define their season. With plenty of games left and all of their goals still intact, the Seminoles remain very much in contention for the ACC crown and even a College Football Playoff spot.
