In a commanding 40-6 victory over Wake Forest, Jaxson Dart showcased why he's one of the most exciting quarterbacks in college football. Dart threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns, spearheading the Rebels’ potent offense. Ole Miss set the tone early, building an insurmountable lead, while their defense put on a clinic, holding Wake Forest to just six points and sacking their quarterback four times. The Rebels, now 3-0, are making a serious case for SEC contention, with Dart proving to be a key Heisman candidate this season.
Ole Miss executed a balanced attack, with the run game complementing Dart's aerial success. The offensive line provided stellar protection, allowing him to make deep throws and capitalize on mismatches against the Demon Deacons’ secondary. Dart connected with his wide receivers on several big plays, including a 40-yard touchdown pass that sealed the momentum in the second half. On the ground, the Rebels controlled the clock, keeping Wake Forest’s offense off the field and tiring out their defense.
Defensively, the Rebels were relentless, forcing Wake Forest into multiple three-and-outs and turnovers. The Ole Miss front seven dominated the line of scrimmage, pressuring the quarterback and stifling the run game. Glenn Seabrooks III, who had an interception, was instrumental in shutting down any hopes Wake Forest had of mounting a comeback.
This win not only strengthens Ole Miss' position in the national rankings but also underscores Dart's leadership and growing maturity. With his accuracy and decision-making improving each week, the Rebels appear poised for a deep run in the SEC and perhaps beyond.
