Looking Into The 2022 College Football Playoff

Looking Into The 2022 College Football Playoff

Author: Jack Culberson

Since 2014, four College football teams are selected at the end of the regular season and bowl games to compete in the College Football Playoff. The Playoff is a four team bracket where the teams selected by the College Football Playoff Committee compete in semi-final games to determine the two teams that will compete for a National Championship. This year the Committee has decided that Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and Ohio States are the four teams competing in the playoff. Georgia has been given the number one seed and they will be playing number four Ohio State on December 31 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. Michigan has been awarded the number two seed and they will be playing number three seed TCU on December 31 in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona.

Georgia - The number one ranked Bulldogs have been totally dominant this year. The Bulldogs went undefeated and won the SEC Championship. There is no question as to why this team is the number one ranked team in the country. They have the best defense in the country and their offense is amazing. Heisman finalist Stetson Bennett has the Bulldog’s offense looking even better than it did last year when they won a National Championship. Their defense might not be as dominant as they were last year, but this unit is still amazing. Georgia is your number one ranked team in the Nation, and they will try and repeat as Champions.

Michigan - For the second year in a row Michigan is ranked number 2 coming into the College Football Playoff. Last year the Wolverine’s lost badly to Georgia in the semi-final. This year they went undefeated and won the Big-10 Championship for the second year in a row. The offense has been electric as the Wolverine’s have one of the best running attacks in the Nation, and their passing game is very solid too. Their defense has been very solid this year and they can get the job done. Michigan is your number two ranked team in the Nation, and they will try and win it all this year.

TCU - The Horned Frogs played great football throughout the entire season and they only lost one game. This loss came in the Big-12 Championship game as they lost in overtime to Kansas State. TCU’s offense has been extremely electric behind Heisman finalist Max Duggan. The defense has not been great, but they are able to get the job done when needed too. TCU is your number three ranked team in the nation, and they will be looking for this first National Championship since the College Football Playoff format.

Ohio State - Although Ohio State lost their final game of the regular season to Michigan in ugly fashion, the rest of their season was great so the Committee let them in the Playoff. Ohio State has one of the best offenses in the country as quarterback C.J. Stroud is a Heisman finalist and a projected first round draft pick. Their receiving core is also amazing, being headlined by Marvin Harrison Jr son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison. The defense looked really good towards the end of the season until the Michigan game. Ohio State is your number four ranked team, and they look for their first National Championship win since 2014.

The Vrbo Fiesta Bowl December 31, 2022 4 p.m. est - Michigan and TCU take each other on in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Both of these teams have high powered offenses, but Michigan has the better defense. Michigan is favored in this game, but TCU has been really good this season. Hopefully this can set up to be a very interesting game.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl December 31, 2022 8 p.m. est - Georgia and Ohio State take each other on in the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Eve. This has the potential to be an amazing game as Georgia has one of the best defenses in the country, and Ohio State has one of the best offenses in the game. Not to mention both sides possess a Heisman finalist at their quarterback position. Hopefully this game is as great as it is setting up to be.
