After an exciting first 3 weeks of college football, I thought I would give you guys my Heisman rankings.
At number 1 in my rankings after 3 weeks of football it would have to be none other than Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. The Rebels have the two best wins in the country up to this point with a win over 16 ranked Louisville and number 10 ranked LSU. In both of those wins Trinidad has performed. His numbers for the season sit at 924 passing yards with 7 passing touchdowns and also adding 2 touchdowns on the ground with an additional 64 rushing yards. Coming into the year I had Chambliss ranked as the best quarterback in the country and he is 100% living up to that.
At number 2, I have Miami Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah. Mensah has been extremely impressive so far this season. In the Hurricanes win over Wake Forest last Friday night Mensah set a new ACC record completing 24 of his first 24 passes. Mensah currently has 873 passing yards and 11 passing touchdowns with no interceptions. He has a completion percentage of 89.9 and only has thrown 8 incompletions all year. He has also only played one full half of football. His completion percentage is actually off the charts and having 11 touchdowns with the ball only hitting the ground 8 times is insanely impressive.
At number 3, I have a guy some people probably didn't even know about up until a week ago. That is Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor. Kamario is in his Sophomore season at Mississippi State but this is his first year as the starter. Not only are Kamario’s numbers impressive, his tape is extremely good, he jumps off the screen and has a rocket of an arm. He currently has 832 passing yards and 11 passing touchdowns with only 1 interception while also adding 178 rushing yards and an additional rushing touchdown. If you haven't watched Kamario Taylor and Mississippi State yet this season, I urge you to do so. They have a few tough games coming up as they're entering their SEC part of their schedule but Kamario can keep them in any game.
At number 4, I have the most electrifying player in the country in Malachi Toney. The exciting Sophomore from the Hurricanes has been Darian Mensah's favorite target so far this year with 28 receptions 444 receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Toney hasn't even played a true full game yet this year, getting pulled in the 3rd quarter of game 1 and pulled in the 2nd quarter of game 2 and he was banged up in game 3. Toney set a single game school record in game one vs Stanford for most receiving yards in a single game with 234. I think if the Hurricanes keep up this play at least one of their star playmakers will end up being in New York.
At number 5, I have who has been widely regarded as the best player in the sport for the last two seasons in Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith just broke the school record this last game with most career receiving yards with 2,958 and counting. Smith is only 3 games into his Junior season and already has the most receiving yards in Buckeyes history. If you know anything about Ohio State you know just how impressive this is. Jeremiah Smith currently has 21 receptions and 400 receiving yards with 3 touchdowns. His best game came against number 1 ranked Texas where he has 8 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown.
