In their dominant 52-3 win over Middle Tennessee on September 7, 2024, Ole Miss displayed their offensive and defensive prowess. Quarterback Jaxson Dart made history, completing 25 of 27 passes for 377 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing). Dart connected effectively with wide receiver Tre Harris, who had nine receptions for 130 yards. On the ground, Henry Parrish Jr. led with 165 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The defense was equally impressive, holding Middle Tennessee to just 28 rushing yards and preventing any touchdowns for the second consecutive game.
Ole Miss struck early, with Parrish finding the end zone twice in the first quarter, while Dart’s precision passing propelled the team to a 31-3 halftime lead. Middle Tennessee struggled offensively, and though they had moments of promise, a 66-yard touchdown was negated by a holding penalty, and turnovers, including an interception by John Saunders Jr., halted their progress. The Rebels' defense came up with multiple red zone stops, consistently thwarting the Blue Raiders' attempts to score.
In the second half, Ole Miss continued to extend their lead with Matt Jones and Parrish both adding rushing touchdowns. The defensive effort, led by key players like Chris Paul Jr. and Trey Washington, kept MTSU out of the end zone, despite their best efforts late in the game. The Rebels' offense remained sharp, breaking records, and the defense made it clear they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
With their sights set on bigger goals this year, Ole Miss has started their season strong, showcasing depth on both sides of the ball under head coach Lane Kiffin. This win moves them to 2-0 and reinforces their position as a top contender in the SEC.
