Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes opened their season in commanding style, securing a decisive road victory over the Florida Gators. The new Miami quarterback impressed in every aspect of the game, completing 74% of his passes.The Hurricanes' offensive line played a crucial role, allowing only one sack and significantly contributing to the team's success. Ward mentioned in the post-game press conference, “The one sack we gave up, that is on me. That was bad pocket movement on my part.”
Ward finished the game with an impressive 26 of 35 passes completed for 385 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also adding 33 rushing yards. Cam Ward looked impressive beyond the stat sheet, effortlessly making tough throws with numerous arm adjustments. The former Washington State quarterback’s improvisation skills were highly impressive, turning many unorthodox plays into routine completions.The Miami quarterback sure put the country on notice with his superstar performance, with his Heisman odds going from +1600 to +1000.
The Hurricanes aim to improve their season record to 2-0 this week as they take on the high-powered SWAC team, FAMU. We’ll have to see what’s in store for the Hurricanes for the rest of the season, but things are looking promising once again in South Beach.
