We will be live at Lane Stadium for an 11:00 am CT kickoff on Saturday, Virginia Tech is set to take on Wofford. After a 17 point victory this past Saturday, the Hokies are looking to add to their positive momentum, while the opposing Wofford Terriers have not found the win column in their last 12 games. In fact, the two teams the Terries battled so far this season, they have been completely shutout, and against a healthy Hokie defense this week, there is no sign of that horrific statistic changing. West Virginia enthusiasts are saying that this quite possibly could be the worst team the Hokies have taken on, close to the Florida A&M team they battled in 2004.
Up until CoronaVirus, the Terries frequently made the FCS playoffs, but because of the outbreak they had to clean house. Up until just recently, they had one of their baseball trainers training their football team, and it has shown. With only 24 total first downs in their first two bouts, and 128 total offensive yards gained in their matchup last week, Wofford is looking for any look of progression they can get out of their up-and-coming trial.
For Virginia Tech, this game is likely a guaranteed blowout in favor of the Hokies, but there are still some circumstances to note. The main objective for VT on Saturday is to avoid injury, and prepare for their game next Thursday against rival West Virginia. Also when the Hokies get up early, there should be no surprise to the second stringer’s getting some reps against the Terriers. The Hokies are missing some key components on offense, however that should not have any impact on the outcome of this contest.
With hosting the 0-2 Wofford Terriers, and coming off of a win last week,Virginia Tech should easily take this one. Wofford is playing for anything positive that they can take back home to Spartanburg, South Carolina. Sometime around 1:00 pm CT the local restaurants, pubs, and bars should be filled with joyful Hokie devotee’s.
