The standout performance in the SEC this week goes to Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, who led the charge in dismantling Furman. Dart delivered a dominating performance with 418 yards, 5 touchdowns, and just 5 incomplete passes. The star quarterback achieved this feat in just one half of football before being pulled to start the second half.
My standout performer for the Big Ten is USC quarterback Miller Moss, who led the Trojans to a thrilling win over the LSU Tigers. The junior quarterback went 27 of 36 for 378 yards and threw 1 touchdown through the air. Although Moss had only 1 touchdown, his performance was the key factor in securing the win over the Tigers. The Trojan quarterback made a gutsy throw to receiver Kyron Hudson with 18 seconds left, completing a 20-yard pass to advance the ball to LSU’s 27-yard line, setting up a potential game-winning field goal.
The clear standout in the Big 12, in my opinion, has to be Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan who shattered a school record with 304 receiving yards in a single game. McMillan was a nightmare for the defense, finding the end zone four times thanks to his connection with star quarterback Noah Fifita.
Miami quarterback Cam Ward is this week’s top performer in the ACC. The senior transfer quarterback was impressive, hitting 26 of 35 passes for 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ward became the first Miami QB since at least 1979 to throw for 300 yards in his first start with the team. The former Washington State quarterback caught the eye with his impressive throws, making adjustments on the fly and putting the ball in the perfect spots for his receivers.
To round out the list, the Group of 5 player of the week is Boise State starting running back Ashton Jeanty. Describing Jeanty’s performance as impressive barely scratches the surface; he amassed 267 yards and 6 touchdowns on just 20 carries, averaging 13.4 yards per carry. The Boise State standout running back set new school records for rushing yards and touchdowns in a single game. His 6 touchdowns also established a new Mountain West Conference record for the most in a single game.
