The New York Giants made a major statement on “Thursday Night Football,” knocking off the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles 34-17 at MetLife Stadium. Behind the electric rookie tandem of quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo, the Giants controlled the game from start to finish to snap their NFC East drought and hand the Eagles their second straight loss.

Dart looked poised under the bright lights of New York, throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown while adding 58 yards and another score on the ground. Skattebo was even more dominant, bulldozing his way to 98 rushing yards and three touchdowns as the Giants’ offense looked the most balanced it has all season.

Philadelphia struck first with a field goal on its opening drive, but New York responded immediately with two quick touchdowns. The Giants went into halftime leading 20-17, then completely shut down the Eagles in the second half, outscoring them 14-0. The win marked the Giants’ first divisional victory since 2023 and gave head coach Brian Daboll’s team a much-needed spark after a rough start to the season.

Jalen Hurts, who had been flawless through the first five games, threw his first interception of the year and struggled to find rhythm against an aggressive Giants defense. Former New York star Saquon Barkley was bottled up, managing just 67 total yards.

After the win, Dart emphasized what the victory meant for the city and the locker room. “This city is starving for wins,” the rookie quarterback said. “We’ve been close in a lot of games, but tonight we finished.”

Skattebo, known for his energy and toughness, celebrated in fitting fashion — ripping off his shirt during a postgame interview to flex alongside analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick, sending the MetLife crowd into a frenzy.

With the victory, the Giants improve to 2-4 and will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to face the Denver Broncos in Week 7. The Eagles, now 4-2, head to Minnesota to take on the Vikings in search of a bounce-back performance.
